High Forehand Groundstroke - Use a semi western or western forehand grip

Listed below are some key points, which will assist you in hitting successful forehands.

  • As Tim is demonstrating in the photo, prepare early and get the racquet back before the ball bounces.  Use your non dominant hand for balance.

  • Take lots of little adjusting steps.

  • For a high bouncing ball, hit the ball early and where possible hit the ball at shoulder height.

  • Have a very firm wrist and grip on the racquet.

  • Meet the ball out in front of your body, so you can transfer your body weight through the shot.

  • Track the ball from your opponent's racquet onto your racquet.

  • Bend from the knees and keep your body balanced.
